How can I become more confident when speaking in front of my classmates or giving a presentation?

I know what I want to say, but when everyone looks at me I become nervous, forget my points, and sometimes avoid speaking altogether.

This is a very understandable challenge, and it does not mean you are falling behind. Prepare enough to feel familiar with the topic, but do not aim to memorize every sentence. One difficult phase is not the definition of your entire student life.

I've faced a smaller version of this myself, and one thing that helped was taking the problem one step at a time. After a difficult attempt, write one thing that went well and one thing to improve instead of calling the whole attempt a failure. You do not need a perfect plan; you need a plan you can actually follow.

Your question is important because the pressure often becomes bigger when we keep everything in our head. Confidence usually follows action, so waiting until you feel completely ready can keep you stuck. Focus on progress you can measure, not on being ahead of everyone else.

I think the biggest thing is to stop expecting an instant solution and give yourself room to learn. Practice your first two sentences aloud so you have a confident starting point even when you feel nervous. Even a small improvement repeated every day can change the situation.

I think the biggest thing is to stop expecting an instant solution and give yourself room to learn. Start with small speaking opportunities where the risk feels manageable and increase the difficulty gradually. Give yourself a few weeks to test the approach and adjust it.

A small change in your routine can make this feel much more manageable. Keep a record of situations you handled well so your mind has evidence that you can improve. Focus on progress you can measure, not on being ahead of everyone else.

It's completely okay to be uncertain while you are still learning about yourself. After a difficult attempt, write one thing that went well and one thing to improve instead of calling the whole attempt a failure. Even a small improvement repeated every day can change the situation.

You're not alone in this—many students go through a similar phase. Confidence usually follows action, so waiting until you feel completely ready can keep you stuck. Your current difficulty does not decide what you are capable of later.

The fact that you are thinking seriously about this already shows that you care about your future. Start with small speaking opportunities where the risk feels manageable and increase the difficulty gradually. Focus on progress you can measure, not on being ahead of everyone else.

You don't have to become perfect at this overnight; consistency will matter more than one good day. Remember that most people notice your nervousness far less than you think. Even a small improvement repeated every day can change the situation.
