How can I stop getting distracted by my phone and social media when I sit down to study?

I genuinely want to study, but after a few minutes I start checking messages, reels, or social media. By the end of the day I feel guilty because I have not completed what I planned.

Don't compare your chapter with someone else's finished-looking story. Start with a short twenty-five-minute session and build consistency before trying to study for several hours. I hope you give yourself permission to start small and keep going.

This is a very understandable challenge, and it does not mean you are falling behind. Use active recall and practice questions rather than spending the whole session rereading notes. Your current difficulty does not decide what you are capable of later.

I've faced a smaller version of this myself, and one thing that helped was taking the problem one step at a time. Review mistakes and make an error notebook so you can practice the exact areas that keep causing trouble. Focus on progress you can measure, not on being ahead of everyone else.

A small change in your routine can make this feel much more manageable. Measure your week by completed learning tasks rather than by the number of hours you sat with a book. You do not need a perfect plan; you need a plan you can actually follow.

The fact that you are thinking seriously about this already shows that you care about your future. Use active recall and practice questions rather than spending the whole session rereading notes. Even a small improvement repeated every day can change the situation.

I think the biggest thing is to stop expecting an instant solution and give yourself room to learn. End each session by writing the next task so that starting again feels easier. You do not need a perfect plan; you need a plan you can actually follow.

You're not alone in this—many students go through a similar phase. Make your study target specific, such as completing ten questions or revising one topic, instead of only writing 'study'. Your current difficulty does not decide what you are capable of later.

I would try replacing the thought 'I must figure this out' with 'I will test one option and learn from it.' Protect a realistic sleep routine because tired study often takes much longer and is harder to remember. Even a small improvement repeated every day can change the situation.

Try treating this as a skill you can build rather than a weakness you have to hide. End each session by writing the next task so that starting again feels easier. Be patient with yourself while you build the habit.

You don't have to become perfect at this overnight; consistency will matter more than one good day. Make your study target specific, such as completing ten questions or revising one topic, instead of only writing 'study'. Keep notes on what works for you instead of copying someone else's routine.

One practical approach is to focus on what you can control this week rather than solving your whole future today. Keep your phone outside reach during focused study blocks and decide in advance when you will check it. I hope you give yourself permission to start small and keep going.

Your question is important because the pressure often becomes bigger when we keep everything in our head. Study the hardest task when your energy is highest and keep lighter revision for lower-energy periods. Talk to a trusted teacher, parent, mentor, or senior if you need another perspective.
